About Duluth Middle School Orchestra

When signing up for DMS Orchestra, no experience is needed! All you need to know is that you want to play one of the amazing instruments in orchestra! Most students who participate in orchestra have never played an instrument prior to 6th grade. In orchestra class, students quickly learn the skills to be able to play their favorite songs on their instruments! Throughout the school year, students perform in concerts, participate in social events and parties, and develop lifelong friendships.

Nearly 400 DMS students participate in orchestra, making it the largest Fine Arts program in the Duluth schools. Each year, students earn top ratings at evaluations and go on to perform in the national-award winning DHS orchestra, which has performed across the country. Each year, many advanced DMS students participate in other prestigious orchestras, such as the Georgia All-State Orchestra, Kendall Youth Orchestra, Gwinnett County Youth Symphony, and the Atlanta Music Project.
