About Band
When you sign up to join the Duluth Middle School Wildcat Band, you are opening up the possibility for learning to play so many different instruments! In band, we learn to play flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, and percussion. The best part is that you don't need any experience playing an instrument to be in band! 95% of students who join band have never played a band instrument before.
Students in the band program at DMS are given opportunities to use the skills they learn in class to give back to the community through music. Band students at DMS have consistently participated in events such as Large Group Performance Evaluation, Solo & Ensemble Festival, District Honor Band, The University of Georgia's Middle School Honor Band Festival, and the Georgia All-State Honor Band. Bands at Duluth Middle School have consistently earned Superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation.

about ms. jimenez
Josey J. Jimenez has been the Director of Bands at Duluth MS since 2016. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and is currently finishing up her Master's degree in Music Education from Georgia College and State University. Ms. Jimenez is an active clinician around the state of Georgia and bands under her direction have consistently earned superior ratings at the Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Evaluation. Students in the DMS band have consistently been selected to participate in District Honor Band, All-State Honor Band, and UGA's Midfest Honor Band while under Ms. Jimenez's instruction. Ms. Jimenez is a member of multiple professional organizations, including Sigma Alpha Iota, Woman Band Directors International, the Georgia Music Educators Association, and the D23 Official Disney Fan Club (which she is very proud of). In her free time, Ms. Jimenez likes to cater to her dog Ellie's every need and spend as much time as possible at Disney World.
